“Hydra” was Chris Rankin’s first ever major art competition entry, for which she received the prestigious “Golden Bear” award (top art entry prize) at the 2007 California State Fair Art Competition, as well as the coveted “Jurors Award.” “Hydra also received a First Place ribbon at the “Draft Horse Classic” art competition at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in 2007.

The back of each card includes a unique artist statement, written by the artist, detailing her thoughts about the piece and her inspirations for the subject of the painting.
Chris Rankin is an award-winning watercolor artist from Northern California, whose equine-themed works have been featured in numerous galleries, art shows and in various print media features over the past seven years. Her work has won local, state-wide, national and even international acclaim, and she can often be found displaying and discussing her art and love of draft horses at local galleries and annual horse shows throughout Northern California. Her work has been featured in national and international magazines such as “Sierra Heritage,” “Art Horse Magazine.”
